WHIP YOUR HAIRRR

Willow Smith is the most bad-ass 9 year EVER.

Her song, “Whip MY Hair” has been blowing up for a minute now, but I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the full force ferocity of this song at the club on saturday night, and OMG, it was fire. FIRE.

Im pretty sure that I threw my neck out whippin’ my hair, but it was SOOO worth it.

Please, do yourself a favor and learn from the master here:

Shakira es Loca

That is not a compliment.

Shakira’s new latin-accoustic album “Sale El Sol” is a total departure from her previous euro-pop album “She Wolf”.  In retrospect, “She Wolf” was a total departure from her previous two albums “Oral Fixation vol. 1” and “Oral Fixation vol. 2”. I guess she has a case of musical ADD…

On this album, Shakira stripped down the beats in an effort to let her vocals shine. I understand what she is trying to accomplish here, but in my opinion Shakira only shines on the dance floor. End of story.

Judge for yourself and listen to her entire album HERE.

OMFLV- Men’s Edition.

This is the greatest Tattoo ever.

Marc Jacob’s enlisted his personal Tattoo artist Scott Campbell to spice up the Men’s Spring 2011 runway show, and he did not disappoint.

Aside from inking up the models with some classy temporary tattoos, Campbell ALSO designed a few bags just for men!!!

These are on my wish list.

Watch the Men’s Spring 2010 show here:

OMFLV!!!

Marc Jacobs can do no wrong.

If there is ANY pattern or print that can instantly be labeled as “trashy”, it is animal print. However, its a different story when that zebra print dress has a little “LV” sewn into the label.

Mister Jacobs and his crew at Louis Vuitton shocked the audience at his Spring 2011 into a fashion coma when he sent his models strutting down the runway in bold colors, flashy sequins and LOTS of animal print.

The collection was thoroughly inspired by the Orient, and a few of the extremely asian looks in the beginning of the show miss the mark. They come off looking more like fancy halloween costumes than high-end couture.

That being said, if any designer can pull of animal print with elegance and class, its Marc Jacobs.

The show hits the high mark at the 7:00 mark. Watch the full show here:

This Just Made Me Cry.

David LaChapelle is truly a visionary.

I stumbled upon this short film he made for H+M back in 2005, and it is nothing short of AMAZING. Here, LaChapelle stays true to himself in a brilliant retelling of William Shakespeare’s “Romeo & Juliet”.

Beautiful.

How to “Change” When the World Won’t Let You.

I am going to begin this post with a very cheesy, yet poignant quote:

“You must be the change you wish to see in the world” -Mahatma Gandhi

This simple quote has resonated throughout the world since the day that Gandhi uttered it. “Change” itself was the focus of Barack Obama’s 2008 Presidential Campaign. “Change” is the epitome of a buzz word, but where did all the energy for this buzz come from?

No one likes change. In fact, people are terrified of change. The notion that a contestant on “America’s Next Top Model” has to change her hair color usually sends that girl into hysterics. Now, her emotions could be blamed on hunger, but the average individual fears change on numerous levels.

We as humans are creatures of habit. We find solace in having a daily routine. But just as mother nature goes through cycles, we too are constantly forced to adjust to the world around us. In the past three years I have gone from the safety and security of “home” to the scary helplessness of college. That is QUITE a change. Somehow, the millions of students that make this adjustment each year are able to do so with wide-eyed readiness.

The issue with change is that people WAIT for it to happen. The harsh reality is that YOU must be an active participant in that change. The only person in this world that is looking out for “you” IS YOU. As scary as it sounds: take a risk, take some initiative, and make that change. You might be surprised by your own personal strength.

So today, so early in my life, I am forcing myself to make this HUGE change. Gone are the days that I will gripe over Tila Tequila and Heidi Montag. Gone are the days that I will place the Housewives of any city on a pedestal. I now know that my heart belongs to the art world. My obsession with fashion, music, street art, and photography is something that I want to devote my creative energy to.

Instead of deleting every old post on this Blog, I am going to leave it up as a tribute to my personal growth. I truly believe that you can’t see where you are going if you do not know where you have been.

I am honored to have you come on this journey with me, and I am VERY excited to see what path I take next.

xxx

My Guilty Pleasure.

My taste in music is broader than Jordan Sparks’s shoulders.

Lately I have been on an alternative music kick, adding lots of MGMT and Feist to my iTunes. As I was looking for more music I stumbled upon Aussie songstress Sia. I have known about Sia (pronounced see-ya) for years, but never paid very much attention to her. Then, in a flash, all of my presumptions of her as an artist were shattered when I saw her live performance of “Soon We’ll Be Found” on the Letterman Show. The cd version of the song, off her last album “Some People have Real Problems”, is ok… but the live version is PHENOMENAL!!!

Watch the performance here:

I have been obsessed with Sia ever since I saw that performance. I love her voice, I love her lyrics, I love her style and her aesthetic. I love it ALL.

Listen to more Sia classics here:

Love.

If you are a Sia fan make sure that you head over to iTunes and buy some of her music.

New Lady Gaga!!!

This may the best Gaga song that I have ever heard.

ReLoaded, a song produced by Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins during “The Fame Monster” sessions, is a synth-heavy club banger that could easily be a number one hit. The song originally made the cut for the Fame Monster, but was then replaced by “Teeth”. Bad move.

Listence to the HOTNESS here:

The NJ Housewives are no strangers to drama. While most of the on-screen drama revolves around Danielle Staub, it is the drama that is occurring off-screen that is the juiciest!!!

Yes, a few of the housewives are covering up a shocking gay scandal, but I feel that there is nothing wrong with exposing it. When you sign up to air out your family’s dirty laundry on national TV, then you need to be prepared to air out EVERYTHING.
